Where can I renew my certification?

You have several options to renew your ASE certification, depending on the test series:

1. In-Person at an ASE Test Center

You can schedule and take an in-person recertification test by appointment at any official Prometric test center. Recertification tests usually have about half the questions of initial certification tests. You can purchase and schedule your test through myASE.

2. Remote Testing via Prometric ProProctor

Most ASE recertification tests are eligible to be taken remotely from home or your workplace via Prometric ProProctor (by appointment). To test remotely, you will need a private room, a supported computer, a webcam, and a government-issued photo ID. You can check test eligibility and technical requirements at Prometric ProProctor.

3. ASE Flex Test (Remote, No Appointment)

For the Auto Maintenance and Light Repair (G1) test, recertification can be taken remotely without an appointment using ASE Flex Test. Purchases are made through the Store tab in myASE, with more information available at ASE Flex Test.

4. ASE Renewal App (Automobile Series A1-A9 Only)

If you hold active or expired certifications in the Automobile & Light Truck series (A1-A9), you can maintain and extend your credentials without taking a test center exam by subscribing to the ASE Renewal App.

  • Cost: $52 per year (covers all eligible A-series credentials).
  • Format: Delivers one question per eligible area every 30 days via mobile or desktop.
  • Renewal: Earning 8 credits in a certification area extends that credential by 1 year.
  • Subscription: You can subscribe directly through myASE.
